Established on May 18, 1984, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, Delhi is a Sikh Minority and the constituent college of the University of Delhi named after the tenth Sikh Guru and managed by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, a statutory body, constituted under an Act of Parliament.

It is the second college of commerce of the University of Delhi. The college has been ranked best in all of Delhi University for commerce courses. It is ranked top among all other colleges offering Business Economics.

The college run courses under University of Delhi, New Delhi and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in September 1985 under Act, 1956.

It is recognized and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.02 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 17th March 2016.

The aim of the college is in consonance with the fact that national economic and commercial relations are becoming so closely interdependent that meaningful vital changes are being introduced to academic curriculum in the centres of higher learning.

It is a govt. co-educational Institute, providing regular courses in which is located in the urban part of Delhi played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the University of Delhi, New Delhi.

At present, the college offers undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, Science and Management streams etc. It also offers postgraduate and add-on certificate courses.

The college has its own selection process unlike other colleges under Delhi University. The college has an online application process where prospective applicants are expected to fill in their interests and academic achievements.

Admission has been done when seekers who have registered with the University are eligible for admissions in the college.

Few of the UG courses are under Choice Based Credit and Semester System (CBCSS) and PG courses are under the Credit and Semester System (CSS) of the affiliating university. Therefore, the students should have to choose one honour (core) subject with two or more as subsidiary (elective) subjects for the specific undergraduate streams.

The college has a significant presence in the field of research. A number of major & minor research projects are awarded to the faculty members by the UGC and other bodies

State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject
A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
The college Unit NSS Wing performs a different type of social services within and outside of the area
The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
