School of Law - SASTRA University, Thanjavur a brainchild of there Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor was started in 2008 with the approval of Bar Council of India, New Delhi.

Devoting itself to the cause of quality legal education, provide free legal – aid and betterment of Nation.
Teach students, Law and Ethics in general and professional ethics, in particular, make them follow Fundamental Duties enshrined in the Constitution of India and mold them as dutiful citizens of this beautiful country.
Aimed at imparting exceptional legal education with contemporary facilities and expert faculty. Aimed to create a new generation of lawyers, who can face with confidence emerging challenges in the light of L.P.G (Liberalization, Privatization, and Globalization). Education must avoid the danger of linear thinking. It should aim at being practical.
In order to achieve this, students of School of Law undergo one-month Internship after every semester under N.G.O., Trial and Appellate Advocates, Judiciary, Legal Regulatory authorities, Legislatures and Parliament, other legal functionaries, market institutions, Law firms, Companies, Local Self–Government and other such bodies as the university shall stipulate.
Ever since its inception School of Law has committed itself to the task of imparting quality legal education & maintaining high standards of discipline.
They will strive to impart not only academic knowledge but also professional ethics which will enable our law students to take up the challenges posed by the legal profession.
The atmosphere in Sastra University in general and School of Law, in particular, is conducive to the all-round development of the students. Conducting as part of the course Assignments, Seminar Presentations, and Intra – Moot Court Competitions right from the first semester to enable the students to acquire the skills of mooting.
They encourage students to participate in All India Moot Court Competitions conducted by various Colleges / Universities.
