Satish Pradhan Dnyanasadhana College, Thane was formerly known as Dnyanasadhana College was established on 18th September 1980 which is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1960.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is permanently affiliated to University of Mumbai, Mumbai and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

The college also has a centre for Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik for distance learning students. The admission procedure is run by Yashwantarao Chavan Open University, Nasik.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade ( CGPA Score 2.62 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 5th January 2013.

Dnyanasadhana, as an educational institute is duly Registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1960 on 10th September 1980. The Junior College was recognized by the Education Department, Government of Maharashtra by an order dated 22nd October 1980. By virtue of natural growth, a full-fledged degree college was started in 1983.

The college complex is located on a 2.25 acres plot, with a fully built-up space of about 36620 sq. ft. it offers all modern amenities needed for all-round development of the student's personality. Prospective students, parents, and visitors can commute from Thane Railway Station by auto rickshaw or city bus services.

The aim of the college is to encourage and promote education to the socially, economically backward & weaker section of the society.The college provides quality education in their respective subjects it also provides all facilities to the students for building their character.

It is co-educational private institute, providing a regular course which is located in the urban part of Thane played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
 
The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college provides two different levels of education:

  • Junior College (Intermediate)
  • Senior College (Undergraduate and Postgraduate)

The college has faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce on aided basis and B.Sc. Computer Science and Bachelor of Mass Media / BMS, B.Com. (A&F), B.Com (B&I) on an unaided basis.

The college has fully qualified and competent teaching staff and adequate non-teaching staff. We are expanding our premises for providing better amenities and facilities.

At present, the college offers two years intermediate unaided & aided courses in Arts, Science, & Commerce streams with various optional specializations under Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune.

The college also offers three years unaided & aided undergraduate & two years unaided postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Management streams with optional specializations under the University of Mumbai, Mumbai and Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik. It also offers Add-On Certificate courses.
