Saldiha College, Bankura was established in 1966.

Its affiliated to University of Burdwan.

It is an undergraduate degree college of Arts, Science and Commerce faculties. It is a grant-in-aid college recognized under 2f by the UGC on December 12 1966.

The College was established with the sacred goal of providing higher quality education to both boys and girls and excel in areas pertaining to their all round development and up gradation of society at large. Its aim is to cater the needs of the rural youths of South Bengal not only in the field of education but in other aspects such as health, economy, sports, environment, social awareness etc.

The curriculum is designed by the Boards of Studies of Burdwan University. The College comes under the University of Burdwan. This University was started in 1960 with Sukumar Sen as its first Vice-chancellor. It occupies an exalted place amongst the universities of West Bengal.

It has been awarded with 4 star status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to acknowledge the contribution of Burdwan University in the educational development of the state.

The University of Burdwan offers a wide array of courses to the students. The University is facilitated with various type of modern infrastructure.
