Sahyadri Science College (SSC), Shimoga was established in 1940.

Its affiliated to Kuvempu Uinversity.

It is an autonomous college and it has been re-accredited with ‘B++’ by NAAC, affiliated to Kuvempu Uinversity and recognized by UGC. College is one of the premier educational institutes in the Malenaadu area or south Karnataka. It is prestigious one too.

Their mission is to foster creativity in teaching, learning and research of basic and applied sciences to build a knowledge base and promote quality initiative and to make science education attractive and accessible.

The vision of the college is to become a centre of excellence in teaching and promoting Research in basic and applied sciences to provide high quality value – based under graduate and post graduate education to meet the regional and global challenges and develop scientific knowledge to meet the societal needs.

Ever since its establishment, the college has seen a steady growth in strength as well as quality. The students of this institute have reached great positions in the country.
