Sacred Heart College, Kochi-Ernakulam, formerly known as Thevara College is a Christian Minority College established in 1944.

It is an Arts and Science college in Ernakulam, Kerala, India run by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), an indigenous Syrian Catholic religious congregation founded in 1831.

It is an autonomous Christian College under Church of South India and became one among the first five autonomous colleges in Kerala in 2014.

The college is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (3rd Cycle) on 23rd March 2013.

The aim of the college is at the fashioning of an enlightened society founded on a relentless pursuit of excellence and a secular outlook combined with a firm faith in God.

It is a co-educational private aided Institute, providing regular courses in which is located in the urban part of Kochi played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

The college offers 14 UG programmes under the recently introduced CBCSS, 15 PG programmes, 2 diploma and 6 certificate courses including an online course. Within the UG programmes, the students have the liberty to choose a course from a discipline other than their major in the 5th semester. Besides these, 6 of its departments are recognized research centers offering Ph.D. programmes under the MG University.

The admissions will be done on the basis of the existing regulations of MG University and government of Kerala regarding merit and reservation. Special provisions for those who excel in sports and cultural activities exist, as per the university norms.

Applicants under all categories may directly apply to the college, online, in the prescribed form, for seats under general merit, management quota, community quota, sports/cultural quota and quota for persons with disability.
