The institute is affiliated to Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada.

The government run institute is approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and recognized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Adilabad conducts a course in medical sciences at the undergraduate level, namely of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).

The institute has the capacity of providing 100 seats for this undergraduate course.

The Government has sanctioned Medical College at yearly intake of 100 students and up gradation of existing Hospital to 500 Beds.
