Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.R College of Education, Uchipuli was established in 2006 and was affiliated with Alagappa University, Karaikudi.

The Approved college of Education is in a concrete building of Plinth area 22649 Sq. Ft. situated in the middle of the land of 21.55 acres. The college is situated in a beautiful location with a rural setting flanked by the National Highway 49 of Madurai – Rameswaram Road in the south and the Seashore in the north. The college functions with the aim of catering to the needs of the under privileged people of Ramanathapuram district destined to have been backward for several centuries and even after independance.

The college buildings are constructed on a Built up area 4231 Sq.mts in 3 Buildings. There are sufficient number of water tubs and toilets in the college campus. Purified water supply has been arranged with in the campus.

It is managed under Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.R Educational Trustha. The Trust is managed by Mr. A.Anwer Rhazza and his family members, the former being the chairman of the trust. The College is recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bangalore.
