Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Government Girls P.G. College, Lucknow was established in 1997.

Its affiliated to Lucknow University.

The credit of establishing the institution goes to the then Prime Minister of India who donated Rs. twenty five lakh from discretionary fund of Member of Parliament and laid foundation of the institution on 13.4.1997.

The building of the institution constructed by Uttar Pradesh Housing and Development Board, Lucknow includes the buildings for the faculties of Arts, Commerce and Science.

The first academic session in the faculty Arts at the undergraduate level started during 1997-98 and that in the faculty of Commerce started only during the session 2003-04.

The first academic session in the faculty Science at the undergraduate level started during 2006-07.

The total number of students during the current session i.e. 2008-09 is 1977.
