Established in 2013, North Delhi Municipal Corporation Medical College & Hindu Rao Hospital is one of the total three Medical Colleges being run in India by the Municipal Corporations.
The college is situated in North Delhi, in the Civil Line area and it is located in the campus of Hindu Rao Hospital. This hospital is managed and controlled by M.C.D and is functioning under the supervision of Director Health Services-cum-Municipal Health Officer and the guidance of Additional Commissioner (Health).
The college was started on the Hindu Rao Hospital Premises, after fulfilling all the requirements of Medical Council of India (MCI) for a letter of Intent, and letter of permission (LOP) for establishing the new medical college and its renewals under section 10A of Indian Medical Council Act 1956 respectively. North DMC Medical College is affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Dwarka, Delhi.
The first batch of 50 UG MBBS students was admitted to North DMC Medical College in August (2013-14). All pre-clinical departments (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry) and few of para-clinical departments (Microbiology, Pharmacology, Community Medicine) have been created while all other departments (para-clinical and clinical) have been significantly upgraded.
The admission and counselling of students are done in Registrar office GGSIP University in Sec-16, Pocket - A Dwarka with one representative of each medical college affiliated with GGSIP University (VMMC & RB Medical College) 15% seats are reserved for All India Quota.
The large variety of clinical material and emergency cases available at Hindu Rao Hospital makes it an ideal training institute for Undergraduate and Postgraduate medical students.
