National Institute of Engineering, Mysuru was established in 1946 and managed by The National Institute of Engineering Society

It is an autonomous Institute and granted autonomy in 2007 from Visvesvaraya Technological University.

It is one of the premier educational institutions in India, offering undergraduate, post-graduate and diploma programs in engineering and technology.

It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi and it is recognized and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

The aim of the Institute is to focus on education and research, entrepreneurship and innovation also offering training oriented towards producing highly qualified practitioners and researchers.

It is a co-educational self-financed Institute, providing a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Mysuru played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

Institute At A Glance:

The Institute was started in 1946 with diploma programs in Civil Engineering. Later, the classes were held in a shed in the nearby Sharada Vilas High School campus in Mysuru.

The students were permitted to change over to the regular degree course leading to B.E. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Mysore.

Thus, NIE became the second engineering college in the state of Karnataka and the first in Mysuru. NIE got private-aided institution status under grant-in-aid code of the Karnataka government.

The Institute conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government

The Institute also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under the affiliating university.

The Institute has been received 22 among engineering colleges in India by Outlook India in 2017 and 15th among the private engineering institutes in India. The Institute is 2nd rank in Karnataka and 1st rank in Mysuru.

The Insitute offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses of study and research including Bachelor of Engineering, Master of Technology, Master of Business Administration and offers programs leading to an award of Ph.D. in various disciplines.

The course structure followed in all the programmes at the Institute follow the Choice-based Credit System (CBCS).

Admission to these programmes is through COMED-K, CAT, GATE Score conducted every year for the B.Tech, MBA, M.Tech. Also, Admissions are as per regulations of VTU.
