Modern Education Society's Ness Wadia College of Commerce, Pune, commonly known as Ness Wadia College of Commerce was established in June 1959 and managed by Modern Education Society.

The college is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.10 on a 4 Point  Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 5th May 2014.

It is a co-educational private Institute, providing regular courses in which is located in the urban part of Pune played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.

The college was started their classes in the adjacent building of the Nowrosjee Wadia College of Arts and Science. In 1969, the Commerce wing came to be established as an independent college of commerce, named after Sir  Ness Wadia.

Later, the college moved into its present premises with a building of its own in 1971. The college was inaugurated on 15th July 1969.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The college is ranked among one of the top five colleges in the Commerce with more than 100 faculty members.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate and two years of postgraduate courses in Commerce stream with various specializations under the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. It also offers Diploma and Add-On Certificate courses.

The Junior Wing of the college offers courses in Commerce stream under the rules and regulations of the Maharashtra State Board Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune.

The college in collaboration with ICICI Bank University has introduced E-learning in banking. The E-learning course includes a Foundation of Banking course (FOB) or an online FOB course. The E-learning FOB course includes self-learning from the internet, group discussions, class presentations, bank visits, clearinghouse visits etc.

The college has on MOU with ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accounts), where students of the college are put through comprehensive and rigorous exams and training, along with a range of resources and support to help them achieve the ACCA Qualification to enable them to reach the career destination of choice.

This college and CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment), UK have collaborated with each other to offer a wide range of qualifications in investment operations.

The college has entered into a collaborative agreement through its Competitive Examination Center with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute, Govt. of Maharashtra and Deccan Chamber of Commerce Industries & Agriculture (DCCIA).

Short-term courses are conducted in the evenings in Lean Management, Six Sigma, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, and Service Tax etc. Apart from these courses, the colleges offer Soft Skill Development Courses.

The college is a recognized Research Centre for Ph.D. by the University of Pune under its Faculty of Commerce.

The college also has several exchange programs with universities from foreign countries. There is also an International Languages School which provides certificate courses in European and Asian languages.

The college has its own selection process unlike other colleges under Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. Admission has been done when seekers who have registered with the University are eligible for admissions in the college.

Admissions are granted to the students passing various examinations from Secondary Schools and Indian Universities and Foreign Universities.
