Medhavi Skills University (Sikkim)  has been established with the passage of the Medhavi Skills University, Sikkim Act 2021 in the Sikkim State Legislative Assembly on 29th June 2021.

21st Century Industry and Workspace is changing in a faster and unexpected way. Disruptive Technologies have dramatically transformed the way the work used to work. Especially, the last decade has been highly impactful in accelerating this transformation due to the evolution of technologies like High-Speed Internet, Mobile (4G, 5G), IoT, Cloud Technology, Big Data, etc. The inquisitiveness of the human mind and the path-breaking innovations have started to redefine the Workspace and the Social behavior e.g.; Chatbots handling the customer service seamlessly, Robots synchronously participating in large scale Manufacturing, Ecommerce dominating the retail space, etc.

To deliver to the demand for industrial mobility, the future workforce in the higher education eco-system needs to be groomed differently. Medhavi Skills University (Sikkim) is committed to catering to the need of the hour to prepare the youth to tackle the agility and volatility of the future workspace. To this mission, co-working with leading Industry Partners within and outside of India to design and implement demand-driven programmes embedding On Job Training / Learning in the Industry is our priority. We envision each Medhavian to be the leading face of tomorrow’s workspace.

MSU aspires to establish a pioneering university model where corporates/ industries shall be the stakeholders and influencers in course curriculum design, program delivery, practical skills training, as well as, for providing on-the-job apprenticeship, with the following mission and vision.

Competency-based Curriculum & Framework.
 
To make students learning measurable and visible beyond the marks/grades, the curriculum in active participation of the Industry Experts is aligned to the recent competencies required in a specific sector and packaged into qualification benchmarks. It helps in tracking the programme outcome, periodically with improved accuracy.
 
Practice Driven Pedagogy & Learning in 4D.
 
Minimum 50% of the curriculum being delivered through practice and application-driven pedagogy brings confidence and understanding. Learning in 4 dimensions: On-Campus, On-line, On-Site, On-the-Job bring diversity to the experiences and keep the engagement happening and dynamic.
 
Degree with Work Experience (On Job Learning / Apprenticeship).
 
Substantial learning at Work at the Workspace/Industry under the professional mentors during the programme adds to the confidence, performance in terms of domain and life skills. Actively Working with an Industry partner as an apprentice for a longer duration brings the edge of having work experience during the degree.
 
Real World Skills & Intelligence.
 
Living with the actual diversity of the real world in terms of engagement, experience, and expectation adds to the up-gradation of social skills and intelligence for a seamless migration to the real world.

World Skill Competitions - Being the Skill Star.
 
Candidates with good performance in respective domain skills will be shortlisted and groomed to represent India at World Skills Competition (Skills Olympics)
 
Skill Certifications.
 
The skill quotient of the candidates will also be verified by the Industry and Certified Skill Assessors through certifications from NSDC
