MGR Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (MGRIHMCT), Chennai was established in 1993.

The college is affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology, New Delhi.

The college is approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). The college is a part of Sri Muthukumaran Education Trust, an educational charitable trust with a coterie of Institutions renowned throughout the country.

Today more than four thousand students from different parts of the world study in these Institutions. M.G.R.IHMCT is a proud part of this elite group of Institutions, ably headed by its Managing Trustee, Shri A.N.Radhakrishnan, whose contribution in the field of academics in the state of Tamilnadu has been hailed by many a statesman.

With a multitude of food festivals, students chef competitions, inter-college and hotels sports tournaments and other cultural events conducted annually, students find expression to their innate talents and are nurtured with care and concern to enable them succeed in their careers.

Molding better citizens for the morrow is the college motto that decides all activities and hence students are provided holistic education required to excel in today’s world.
