MES College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, Bengaluru Urban was established on 1st June 1956 by a group of enlightened educationists and philanthropists with a vision of providing quality education to the young citizens in the neighborhood of Malleswaram.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Bangalore University, Bengaluru and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 23rd August 1994 under Act, 1956. The college attained the status of Grant-in-Aid.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (in 3rd Cycle) on 19th January 2016.

MES College was started in 1956-57 as an intermediate college by five eminent and enlightened citizens Sri. G.A. Acharya, Sri. M. Chinnaswamy,  Prof. B.R. Subba Rao, Prof. M.P.L. Sastry and Smt. Vimala Ranghachar. It is now a full-fledged Degree College which offers UG, PG and Ph.D. Programme.

With a very humble beginning, of starting with 69 students today, it is has a strength of nearly 2000 students. Though the college began with arts and commerce streams, the science stream was started in 1969.

The college owes its present eminent brand image and stature largely due to the concerted and painstaking efforts of its founders, the members of the Management and a host of excellent teachers who has ensured quality education to generations of students across the cross sections of the society.

Over the last five decades, the academic and cultural activities of the college have witnessed a continuous and marked growth while ensuring the much needed holistic development of the students.

Despite the constraints of space and its location in a residential area, the college has given priority to the all-round development of its students in order to hone the creativity in their pursuit of education, and develop a well- rounded life-wide personality.

In its infant stages, the college was housed in a small dwelling Anandashram, which recalled the ancient Guru Kula with a good rapport between the small number of students and their teachers.

From this humble beginning, the college has grown gradually into a full-fledged college.

MES has grown with its ideal of spreading academic culture in several ways. Its aim has always been to provide value based education at affordable cost and to strive for the cultural growth of the student. The college celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 1982 and its 40th year of meaningful functioning in 1997.

The main college was bifurcated according to the Karnataka Government order DCE|ROB|134|134|internal|2001-02 dated 7.8.2001 into MES Degree College of Arts, Commerce and Science and MES Pre-University College of Arts, Commerce and Science. The two colleges have been working on the same campus.

At present, this college offers three years under graduate courses in Arts, Science, & Commerce streams with various optional specializations and offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts & Science stream with some popular specializations under Bangalore University, Bengaluru. It also offers Add-On Certificate courses.
