Mercury College of Arts & Science, Arakkonam was established in 2000.

The College was Affiliated by the University of Madras.

Its managed under Devarajulu Dhanalakshmi Educational Trust and shifted to Thiruvalluvar University after the bifurcation from the University of Madras.

The College serves to fulfill the needs of nearly 70 villages in and around Arakkonam with 5 buses.

Devarajulu Dhanalakshmi Educational Trust was established in 1984 with 2 Members (Mrs.M.Lalitha Mohanan & Mr.D.Sathya Narayanan) to serve for the cause of Education for the past 26 Years.

The Trust established a Primary School with 25 students in Mahakavi Bharathi Nagar, Chennai – 39 in 1984.

Then it was elevated as Mercury Matriculation School & Higher Secondary School in 1989 with 3 branches in the Madras City.

Devarajulu Dhanalakshmi Educational Trust is now with 9 Board Members to serve rural poor people.
