Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Kumaon was established in 1997.

The college is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Mahamaya Technical University, Noida. The college is accredited by NBA.

MIET Kumaon has been established by the Dev Bhoomi Foundation, a trust incorporated for the sole purpose of furthering higher education in Uttarakhand. The trustees of Dev Bhoomi Foundation are well known for their philanthropic efforts in the fields of primary education, higher education and medicine. Over the past three decades, they have set up several Engineering Colleges, Schools of Pharmacy, Business Schools, CBSE-affiliated schools and hospitals in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Meerut Institute of Engineering & Technology, Noida Institute of Engineering & Technology, Meerut Institute of Technology and MIET CCS Campus are institutions managed by the trustees via their other trusts and societies. MIET Kumaon continues to receive guidance and support from these great institutions.
