Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, is an Arya Samaj Minority College, popularly known as MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, was established on 29th June 1968 by Mehr Chand Mahajan, former Chief Justice of India.

It is managed by DAV College Managing Committee (DAVCMC), New Delhi, which was established in 1987 and it is one the largest non-governmental organizations in the field of education in India today.

The college is affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in May 1969 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.29 on a 4 Point  Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 2nd December 2016.

The aim of the college has always been to produce enlightened and potential women, the future decision and policy makers who would repay the society through maximum utilization of their educational input.

It is a women's private college, providing regular courses in which is located in the urban part of Chandigarh played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The college has been awarded a Star Status by Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, ranked as the best college by MHRD, Govt of India.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management streams and offers two years of postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations under Panjab University, Chandigarh. It also offers Post Graduate Diploma and Add-On Certificate courses.

UG courses are under Choice Based Credit and Semester System (CBCSS). Therefore, the students should have to choose one honor (core) subject with two or more as subsidiary (elective) subjects for the specific undergraduate streams.

The College has become the first institution in the region to introduce the Adventure Sport-Rock Climbing of International Quality.

The college has its own selection process, unlike other colleges under the Panjab University, Chandigarh. The college has an online application process where prospective applicants are expected to fill in their interests and academic achievements.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by the Panjab University, Chandigarh, and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
