MCM DAV College, Kangra was established in 1975. Earlier the college was established as a DAV College Kangra & later it was later renamed as MCM DAV College, Kangra in memory of the great jurist from the area Sh Mehar Chand Mahajan.

It is one of the premier institutions established under the management of Maharaja Lakshman Sen Memorial Trust to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

MCM DAV College Kangra is a strong link in the chain of DAV institutions that have come to serve the cause of education and social upliftment not only in our country but also in many foreign countries like USA, UK, Japan, Mauritius, Nepal etc.

The main aim of the college is determined to provide the quality education to the future teachers. With the correct mix of technology and human touch, the college empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

The college was established in an area which was then educationally and economically backward. In the last four decades of service, the College can proudly claim to have substantially changed the education scenario.

The pass outs have excelled in every field – academics, bureaucracy, armed forces, sports, business, a private sector, and even in politics and governance.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Management streams and also offer two years postgraduate courses in Science stream under Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. It also offers some Add-On courses.

A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
