Maniben Nanavati Women’s College, Mumbai was established on 12th June 1972 and managed under Bhagini Seva Mandir Kumarika Stree Mandal.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in their part of progress.

The college is affiliated with the Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University, Mumbai in 1979 and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 30th April 1976 & 12(B) on 12th September 2012 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.02 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 29th March 2016.

The history is the Bhagini Seva Mandir Kumarika Stree Mandal started Nootan Mahila College in the Arts stream in June 1972. In June 1976, following the pattern of the 10+2+3 educational system, Junior College was started.

Later Shree Chandulal Nanavati Women's Institute and Girl's High School Trust took over the management of the Nootan Mahila College in 1978. Now, this college is well-known by the name of Maniben Nanavati Women's College and the Junior College by the name of Tapiben Chhaganlal Lalji Valia Junior College.

The objective of the institute is to disseminate the women’s education and inculcation of need-based academic and intellectual skills and to inculcate moral values and scientific temper.

The Bhagini Seva Mandir Kumarika Stree Mandal has been established numbers of colleges/schools for the student in the region of Maharashtra and all over the India.

It is a women's self-financed private institute, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of Mumbai played a pioneering role in the field of higher education. the campus is located in another city also has a different name of institutions.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college has awarded as the best college by the affiliating university and also a number of awards in publication, offering scholarship & also awarded by the different society.

At present, the college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts & Commerce stream with optional specializations under Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, Pune.

The college also offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts and Commerce stream with various specializations and offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts and Commerce stream with various specializations under Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Womens University, Mumbai. It also offers Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, and Add-On Certificate courses.

The college also offers some courses in distance education mode for the students, which are affiliated with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.
