Mahishadal Raj College (MRC), Purba Medinipur was established in 1946.

The college is affiliated under Vidyasagar University and it had been accredited with 'B' grade by NAAC.

The primary objective of this college is to provide a scope and opportunity of higher education to the people of this locality. The logo of the college properly reflects its missions.

The mission of the institute is to provide qualitative and useful teaching in order to prepare the students for higher education, to develop personality, quality of leadership and good citizenship in students, to inculcate ethical and moral values and to create teachers for the future generation.

This main campus of the college is very small. Although it is one of the oldest colleges in the Midnapur District but the campus area of the college is perhaves the smallest one. Naturally the design of the campus is very compact and every inch is used very carefully.

A new campus is established very recently where the PG Section and few Departments of UG section like Physical Education etc. are being shifted to this new Campus.
