Mannai Rajagopalaswami Government Arts College, Mannargudi was established in 1971.

Its affiliated to the University of Madras and got recognized by the UGC under sections 2f and 12B in the same year.

The college is situated in semi-urban area of Mannargudi, Tiruvarur District in an area of 40 acres.

The college as all other government colleges aims at providing higher education to the underprivileged students of the neighbouring villages including Mannargudi town.

The college is a constituent college under the Bharathidasan University, Tiruchrapalli, which has been following courses of studies prepared by the respective Boards of Studies and approved by the Academic Council of the University.
