The innovative scheme of the Law School to reform the legal education was adopted by the Bar Council of India at the national level and brought changes in the pattern of legal education all over the country.
It was established as part of the of Banaras Hindu University as Faculty of Law, later it was renamed into Banaras Law School and has constantly played a significant role in revamping the legal education and is ranked within top ten Law Schools in India including National Law Schools.
The Banaras Law School is a pioneer institution of legal education in India with an excellent team of teachers and a selected students body, stressing individual attention and extensive as well as intensive study and thereby carrying further the all-important task of educational renaissance in the country in a manner befitting the monumental efforts of the founder of the University, Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji.

Cyber Judice
The faculty, as part of library provides internet facilities to all the students who get a broadband internet facility at a speed of 100 mbps.
The computers are housed in a separate part of the library termed as Cyber Judice.
All the computers are also uploaded with Law Encyclopedia which is continuously updated and anyone can retrieve the latest judgments of the various High Courts and the Supreme Court.
Moot Court Society
The faculty has a Moot Court Society which conducts Intra Faculty Moot Court Competition apart from the curriculum Moot, on a fortnightly basis .
Its objective is to inculcate Court Ethics in the students and to transform them into good lawyers and thereby help in the overall development of the students.
Also since the society comprises mainly of students across all semesters of LL.B. (6 semester) course. It also helps in developing the sense of responsibility, coordination and cooperation among the students.
The Intra Faculty Moots are generally presided by practising Lawyers and the students are given problems relating to diverse fields of law.
