Lakshmipuram College of Arts and Science was established in 1964 in Kanyakumari. The College has a lush green surrounding and is accredited with B Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Lakshmipuram College of Arts and Science is located near the sourthernmost tip of peninsular India and affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. The College is approved by the University Grade Commission  (UGC) and Government of Tamil Nadu.

The institute was established as a self-finance co-education college. The primary objective of the college is to provide effective and efficient education. The Campus is spread across approximately 37 acres. It is acclaimed for providing extra-curricular and co-curricular activities along with quality education.

The college offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The most popular courses are B.Sc. in Information Technology, B.Sc. in Costume Design and Fashion, B.Sc. in Electronics, B.Sc. in Bio-Chemistry and M.Sc. in Information Technology. It also offers M.Phil and Ph.D.

The faculty of the college is very competent and pur their best foot forward to enhance both the academic and soft skills of the students. The college is also known for providing individual attention to every student. More than 117 faculty members will be imparting education and / or guiding the students in the college.

Everyone knows how important practical skills are in this competitive world along with academics. The Practical sessions are provided to students in the form of industrial tours. Students will also have special sessions and classes to increase their practical skills.

The admission to the college will be purely based on merit. It will also provide admission to students of reserved categories such as SC and ST. The College meets the admission reservation in accordance with the government guidelines.

While coming to placements, the college organises placement interviews every year for the final year graduates. It also conduts a job fair annually which enables the other college students to take part. Every Year, more than 20 private companies knock the doors of the Lakshmipuram College to grab the freshers.
