Lal Bahadur Arts, Science, and S.B. Solabanna Shetty Commerce College (Autonomous), Shivamogga was also known as L.B. and S.B.S. College (Autonomous), Shivamogga was established in 1964 under the management of Malnad Development Foundation (R).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Kuvempu University, Shivamogga and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.76 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 24th September 2014.

The main aim of the college is determined to provide the quality education to the students. With the correct mix of technology and human touch, the college empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

The foundation stone of the college was laid by Lal Bahadur Shastri, the then Prime minister of India., M. Gopalakrishna Adiga, the great Kannada Poet, was the founder principal.

The college is located in a spacious campus of about 57 acres with providing well-equipped facilities as required for the students & staff.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Management streams with various kind of specializations and also offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts & Commerce stream with various specializations under Kuvempu University, Shivamogga.

To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
