Kanchi College of Education, Kancheepuram was established in 1959.

The College is recognized by NCTE, Bangalore & affiliated to University of Madras.

It is managed under Bhaktavasalam Educational Trust.

The Bhaktavasalam Educational Trust was established in 1958 to commemorate the 60th birth day of Mr. M.Bhaktavasalam former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The Founder President of the Trust was Mr. O.V. Alagasen, former Union Railway and Petroleum Minister.

The Trust is a Charitable Trust and has among their founders Trustees, Padmashree. Dr.Sarojini Varadappan an eminent social worker and Mr. P.T.R. Palanivel Rajan, former Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
