K.M.E.S Society's G.M. Momin Women's College, Bhiwandi (Dist. Thane) was established on 24th July 1989 and managed under the Konkan Muslim Education (K.M.E.) Society, which was established in 1927.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with the University of Mumbai, Mumbai and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
 
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.10 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 21st February 2014.

The aim is to fulfill the desire of providing quality education to children, especially in a mofussil and backward area like Bhiwandi, where the rate of illiteracy was very high and was dominated by the Power-loom workers, who lived a hand to mouth existence and could not afford to send their children to school.

The Konkan Muslim Education (K.M.E.) Society has been established numbers of colleges/schools for the student in the region of Maharashtra and all over the India.

By starting an Anglo-Urdu High School. Now the society has grown vastly with two Primary Schools, seven full-fledged High Schools, two Junior Colleges two Technical and Vocational Schools, a Computer Centre, a multi-faculty Degree College with Post Graduation Centre of Arts, Science and IT and Research, Management and B.Ed. college.

G.M. Momin Women's College is one of the leading institutions imparting higher education in the fields of Arts, Science and Commerce, catering to the diverse needs of the present youth.

The Arts courses were established on July 24, 1989, with 94 students then the Science courses was started from July 11, 1994, with 27 students. Later the Commerce courses came into existence from July 1999.

It is women private institute, providing a regular course which is located in a rural part of Thane played a pioneering role in the field of higher education. the campus is located in another city also has a different name of institutions.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.

The great achievement of the college is that it has received “The Best College Award” from the University of Mumbai on August 15, 2010.

In order to enhance and sustain Quality Education in the college and to maintain excellence, they went ahead voluntarily to get the college ISO certified. The college acquired the license for the ‘Quality Management Systems Certification in accordance with IS/ISO 9001:2000 w.e.f. 28/11/2008 for a period of 3 years from The Bureau of Indian Standards.

The change of version to IS/ISO 9001:2008 was also carried on successfully in the college after the external Audit on 3rd and 4th of November 2010, The renewal of license for IS/ISO 9001:2008, from November 2011, has also been obtained.

The college offers three years undergraduate and two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, Science, and Management streams with various specialization for the students. Also, offers Ph.D. certificate and add-on courses.

The college has been introduced with latest developments in the field of industry and their requirements, the courses Computer Science, Research, and Management Studies have been introduced.
