Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University (ICFAI), Tripura was eastablished in 1984 as a not-for-profit society witht he broad objective of empowering citizens through world class quality education. The Institute announced its arrival into the Indian education fora by launching a high end, innovative professional program in financial analysis in 1985. The program was first-of-its-kind in India, aimed at equipping students and working professionals with cutting-edge knowledge in contemporary areas of finance.

The ICFAI University, Tripura (referred to hereafter as the University) was established in 2004 through an Act of State Legislature (Tripura Act 8

The university has been approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
