About Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology
Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi was established in 2008 as a State University by an act of Delhi Government.
Commonly known as IIIT-Delhi or IIIT-D, was officially established on June 10, 2008, and the first class for B.Tech (CSE) students was held on September 8, 2008.
The institute began with its first batch of 60 B.Tech students in 2008. This first batch was graduated in 2012 and the first convocation took place in November 2012.
By that time, the institute has attracted nearly 30 faculty members, and its academic program consisted of B.Tech., M.Tech. and PhD programs in CSE and ECE. In a relatively short time, it has earned a good reputation in India and abroad for being a centre of quality education and research in IT.
At present, the institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate courses in engineering stream with various specialisations.

IIIT-Delhi offers advanced Research and Development in AI and ML
On July 27th, 2022, IIIT-Delhi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vehant Technologies Pvt. Ltd. to undertake joint research projects. The collaboration of the institute’s students and faculty with the R&D staff of Vehant technologies is focused on applications of cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to advance physical security, surveillance and traffic monitoring. Vehant Technologies is one of the leading players in the field of R&D and product development using AI and ML.
As per the terms of the MoU, Vehant technologies will also be sponsoring research projects, consultancies, M.Tech. and Ph.D. students of IIIT-Delhi, beginning with sponsoring up to five M.Tech. students of the academic year starting 2022-23.
The admission of the first set of sponsored M.Tech. students will commence in July 2022 and the projects are set to start in August 2022.
According to Anoop G. Prabhu, Co-founder & CTO, Vehant Technologies, The IIIT-Delhi M.Tech. students who are granted the sponsorships will be called Vehant fellows and each fellowship will imply a commitment of Rs 10 lakh by Vehant technologies over a period of two years of their academic course. The fund can be flexibly utilized for any research and academic purposes. Our primary objective is to attract young talent to work on our projects while simultaneously supporting quality education.
The fellowship will be highly beneficial for the students of our institutes as they will receive the full cost of their education including reimbursement of living costs and also get first-hand industry experience on live projects and R&D, while continuing their regular academic study.
