Indian Institute of Technology Indore was popularly known as IIT Indore or IITI was established on 17th February 2009.
It is an autonomous premier engineering and technology of higher education institute which was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the Government of India under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011.
It is one of the premier institutes established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The institute is self-affiliated with the Indian Institute of Technology Indore and it is recognized and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
The aim of the institutes was the focus to enable students to gain exposure to recent trends in their chosen domains of study and gain practical experience through a wide variety of activities the institute facilitates in its own campus and arranges for in collaboration with industry and other institutes.
It is a co-educational public Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Indore played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

Indian Institute of Technology Indore is one of the eight new IITs set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to expand the reach and enhance the quality of technical education in the country.
The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011 which declares eight new IITs as well as the conversion of Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University to IIT.
The Minister of Human Resource & Development, Government of India is the Chairman of the Council of IIT Indore.
The institution started functioning from 2009-10 in a temporary campus at Institute of Engineering and Technology of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya under the mentorship of IIT Bombay.
The college permanent campus located in Simrol, Indore, The first batch of IIT Indore graduated in the year 2013.
At present, IIT Indore has three schools with more than hundred faculty members including regular, visiting, adjunct and other faculty members on deputation from IIT Bombay.

The students were selected through IIT Joint Entrance Examination conducted every year. Admission to these programmes is through JEE Advanced.
This college has conferred the status as "College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)" as the best college by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
The college has been received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular like IIT Indore was ranked 15 among engineering colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2017 and 24 overall.
The institute offers undergraduate programmes awarding Bachelor of Technology in various engineering areas, also offers postgraduate degrees awarding Master of Technology (M.Tech.) and Master of Science (M.Sc. (Research) in various engineering fields, as well as M.Sc. in Basic Sciences, Ph.D. courses in various fields are also offered.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) are the autonomous public institutes of higher education located in India. They are governed by the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961 which has declared them as institutions of national importance and lays down their powers, duties, and framework for governance etc.
The Institutes of Technology Act, 1961 lists twenty-three institutes located at Bhilai, Chennai, Delhi, Dhanbad, Dharwad, Goa, Guwahati, Jammu, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Mumbai, Roorkee, Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Mandi, Palghat, Patna, Ropar, Tirupati, and Varanasi.
Each IIT is an autonomous institution, linked to the others through a common IIT Council, which oversees their administration.
The Union HRD Minister is the ex-officio Chairperson of IIT Council.
The IITs had a common admission process for undergraduate admissions, called IIT-JEE, which was replaced by Joint Entrance Examination Advanced in 2013.
The post-graduate level program that awards M.Tech, MS degrees in engineering is administered by the older IITs (Kharagpur, Bombay, Madras, Kanpur, Delhi, Dhanbad, Roorkee, Varanasi, Guwahati). M.Tech and MS Admissions are done on the basis of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
In addition to B.Tech, M.Tech and MS programs, IITs also award other graduate degrees such as M.Sc in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry, MBA, Ph.D. etc. Admission to these programs of IITs is done through Common Admission Test (CAT), Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) and Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED).
