Commonly known as IIMC Kottayam, Indian Institue of Mass Communication, Kottayam was established in 1995 to impart quality education.
The main aim of the institute is to train working journalists, public relations professionals, and state information officers.
In 2012, IIMC Kottayam opened its doors to graduate students with the Postgraduate Journalism Programme in English for the first time. The IIMC institute has been consistently training budding journalism talents with commitment, quality and industry readiness.
Interestingly, when the institute students wrote the first public exam conducted by IIMC Delhi, the topper was from IIMC Kottayam. A total of four candidates from the Kottayam branch had found a place in the top 10 ranks. Since then, the success has been reflected in the placement/job offers to students too.
Today the students of IIMC Kottayam are now working in diverse international, national and regional news organizations.
The success of the Journalism programme at IIMC can be attributed to strong practical focus and industry interface. Journalism Mentorship Initiative (JMI), which is only available at IIMC Kottayam, makes sure that our students are molded into industry-ready professionals.
This year IIMC Kottayam launched it prestigious Malayalam Journalism Programme to set new quality standards in the regional milieu. The year 2018 will be a spectacular year for IIMC. The institute will be moving to the sprawling 10-acre scenic campus at Pampady Kottayam.
