Established in 1962, Institute of Hotel Management, Catering & Nutrition, Pusa (Dist. New Delhi) is also called IHM Pusa. It is an institute that provides hospitality education in India.
IHM Pusa is under the control of Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. It is an autonomous institute. The institute was formed under the joint collaboration of the Government of India and the Government of New Delhi.
IHM Pusa is affiliated with the National Council for Hotel Management (NCHMCT), Noida. The institute is also recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
IHM Pusa aims at providing practical and theoretical education to students in the area of hospitality in order to supply trained manpower to the restaurant, hotel, and allied industries.
After the Dadar Catering College, Bombay (now IHM Mumbai), IHM Pusa is the 2nd government institute that was started by the Ministry Of Food in 1962. Under the able guidance of Sir Belfield Smith, the government of India started the institute in Pusa, New Delhi.
IHM Pusa offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and add-on certificate courses in the field of hotel management.
Because of its students, faculty, discipline, and placements, for the past five years, the hotel management institute is known as one of the best in India in the field of hotel management. It is considered as one of the top two hotel management institutes in the country. IHM Pusa and IHM Mumbai keep competing for the first rank.
Under Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, the institute offers distance education in hotel management.
Students seeking admission to the institute should clear the National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Examination (NCHMCT JEE). This competitive exam is conducted at the national level. Admission is offered based on the ranking in the examination.
