Hojai College, Hojai was established in 1964. It is one of the premier institution of higher learning in Hojai, once famed to be the “granary of Assam”.

The college is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade.

A group of ambitious and progressive citizens led by Mr J.K. Kedia and Mr Dilip Dutta among others took a bold step that eventually materialized in the form of Hojai College.

As the college is entering the threshold of its Golden Jubilee it has grown in size and stature and today not only Hojai and its neighbouring area but Karbi Anglong sends its students to Hojai College to pursue higher studies.

Hojai College draws its academic strength from its competent faculties , well-eqipped laboratories and its resourceful library. Seminars, workshops and various extension programmes further liven up the institutional environment

The college offers two years Higher Secondary Courses in Arts, Science & Commerce stream under Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC), Guwahati and three years Degree Courses in Arts, Science & Commerce stream under Gauhati University, Guwahati and also offers some Career Oriented Courses / Add On Course.

The college also has a Contact Centre of Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), Gauhati University for PG courses. Besides this, the college is running a Study Centre of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOPU), Guwahat.

The college has an attractive campus situated in secured and serene atmosphere suitable for learning with Young, dynamic faculty and non-teaching staff

The college has well-equipped with all modern facilites like classrooms, library, computer centre, seminar halls, reading rooms, play ground, gymnasium & parking etc.

The college campus is eco-friendly and free from outside disturbance which provides a congenial atmosphere for study.

The college has a library with a good number of books (both text and reference) on various subjects to meet the needs of the students as well as the teachers. Daily Newspapers and selected journals are also regularly subscribed.

The college has girls. Hostel seats are alloted on the basis of merit of the students by the Hostel Committee set up for the purpose. A few seats are reserved for SC /ST candidates.

Internet facilities can be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs.

The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) to assure the quality of the college

State Government and the Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC

Seminars are organized at departmental levels from time to time to enrich the level of knowledge of the students in the relevant field.

A college magazine is published annually with a view to giving scope for expression of the literary and creative talents to the students and teachers of the college. Besides this, a wall magazine is also brought out regularly every year.
