Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT), Midnapore was established in 1996. It is the first private and accredited academic institution catering technical education in West Bengal.

The institute is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology and approved by All India council for Technical Education (AICTE). It is accrediated by National Board of Accredited (NBA).
