Govt. Maharani Laxmi Bai Girls P.G. College, Kila Bhavan, Indore was formerly known as Govt. New Girls P.G. College, Indore established on 1st July 1963 and was (shifted from a school in 1965) within a fort which was constructed by the Holkar State in 1860.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in March 1990 under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (in 2nd Cycle) on 5th May 2014.

The college aims at giving equal opportunity to the girls to receive education, coming from backward and economically weaker sections of the society.

The aim of the college was to make orientation towards making it an autonomous college with all necessary facilities for student's training for making them confident & well prepared for the modern career opportunities.

It is a women government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Indore played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management streams and two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce with various specializations under Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

The college has a significant presence in the field of research. A number of major & minor research projects are awarded to the faculty members by the UGC and other bodies
The college has a large playground with well-equipment for different sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and so on
A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject
A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
