Govt. College, Tigaon was established was established on 5th July 1970.

It is one of the premier institutions to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is situated in Tigaon village of Faridabad district at a distance of about 15 km from Faridabad town, about 10 km from Ballabhgarh bus stand, and 5 km from NTPC campus on the Ballabhgarh-Tigaon Road.

The college is affiliated to Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 27th May 1981 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.10 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 14th September 2015.

Established by Sh.Dharam Vir Nagar, (Chairman, Shaheed Smarak Educational Trust, Tigaon) in 1970 as Shaheed Smarak College in the memory of valiant martyrs of this land, the college was taken over by the Haryana Government on 27th May 1981. Since then, the college has made great progress and we hope it would touch new heights in the years to come.

The main aim of the college is determined to provide the quality education to the future teachers. With the correct mix of technology and human touch, the college empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce and Management stream under Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. It also offers various Add-On courses.

Motto:

"Take me from darkness to light" is the motto of the college. It symbolizes the sincere efforts to enlighten our students through quality education.

The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 31st January 2008 to assure the quality of the college and also details regarding submission of Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) to NAAC annually
The college runs a canteen inside the campus where staff and students can have meals and snacks prepared in a hygienic manner and at an affordable cost
Internet & Wi-Fi facilities may be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs
Transportation facility is available for the students
The college also has a hostel with providing all the facilities, security and good atmosphere, best suited for studies of the boys & girls coming from far-off places.
The college has a large playground with will-equipment for different sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and so on
A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college
The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
