Govt. College, Aathner (Dist. Betul) was established on 2nd October 1987 and managed by Janbhagidari Committee.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Barkatullah University, Bhopal and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) on 6th November 2016 & 12 (b) on 19th August 2016 under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The aim of the college was to uplift the educational level of there students also to produce intellectually enlightened, spiritually inspired, emotionally balanced, morally upright and socially committed youth.

It was a co-educational government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the tribal and rural part of Betul played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Barkatullah University, Bhopal.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts streams and two years of postgraduate courses in Arts stream with various specializations under Barkatullah University, Bhopal.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Barkatullah University, Bhopal and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.

A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
