Government Residential Polytechnic for Women (GRPW), Shivamogga is a unique and first Residential Polytechnic started by the Department of Technical Education in Karnataka under the World Bank Assisted Project in 1991 on the banks of river Tunga.

This is the sixth Women’s Polytechnic in the State of Karnataka.
The Polytechnic is established with a main motto to impart technical education to the girl students from the Shimoga and neighboring Districts.
