Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu ,Jammu and Kashmir was established in 1973.

Its affiliated to Jammu University.

with the object to provide quality education and deliver the health care service to the people of this region.

This institution is located in the heart of Temple City Jammu.

This institution was started with the aim to train fifty medical students for MBBS course per year and to serve as referral hospital for Jammu Province.

But now the seating capacity has been increased upto 120 students per year, Besides MBBS course the college also imparts Post-graduate training Course.

The Diagnostic facilities like MRI, Spiral CT Scan and Cardiac Cath Lab. have recently been introduced in the hospital.

The hospital has also developed the infrastructure for open heart surgery and has started performing operation.

Central collection Lab has been established to provide facilities for collection of various samples in the hospital and the reports are also issued from window of the Central Collection Lab on next morning.

The quality control of the various laboratory tests is also ensured and various automatic and semi-automatic analyzers are used in the various laboratories
