Government Arts College, Nandanam, Chennai 37 was established in 1901.

which initially had originated in the middle of the 18th century as a School, called Madrasa and it was upgraded into a College with the objective of accommodating Muslim students, which continued till it acquired its present status in 1948.

Its affiliated to University of Madras.

Ever since, equal opportunity came to be extended to students of all communities, irrespective of religious denomination.

The college is committed to providing value based, job oriented education to the youth, especially to the socially and economically backward students hailing from rural areas.

The goal is to enlighten and empower the youth and mould them into responsible citizens.
