Government Arts College for Women (GACW), Salem was established in 1979.

The college has been affiliated to Periyar University and accredited by NAAC .

This is the only government college for women in the entire Salem district.

Vision and Mission:

Their vision is to motivate the students to acquire communicational skills and leadership qualities, to prepare the students aspire for research scholarship and for studies abroad, to motivate them to be socially conscious and responsible, to teach the students the cultural heritage of our country and bring out the creative skills and hidden talents of the students.
