Gopal Chandra Memorial College of Education, Kolkata was established in 1967.

Gopal Chandra Memorial College of Education is affiliated to Culcutta University.

This college is near to New Barrackpore railway station. The main aim of Gopal Chandra Memorial College of Education is to give proper Training to the Secondary and Higher Secondary Teachers.

There is a well furnished computerised library in this college having more thsn 13000 books. A spacious reading room is attached to the library.

The College participted in the 1st Inter B.Ed. college Atheletic meet 2009 held at Banipur, organised by the WBSU Barasat.

Our college had accepted the Champion's Trophy for women and also get the best women champion's Trophy for women events.

VISION

Our motto is "LIGHT TO ENLIGHTEN". The students are expected to become lights to illumine the world and to dispel all sorts of darkness around them. Light is a symbol of knowledge, it reflects the traditional Indian prayer 'Asato ma sadgamaya' Tamasoma Jyotir gamaya; Mrityormaamritam gamaya' (From ignorance, lead me to truth; From darkness, lead me to light; From dealth, lead me to immortality).

To make our College a Centre of Excellence in Higher Education by imparting knowledge, through which In-service and Pre-service Trainees will be fit for global competiton, athletic, self-reliant and responsible citizens. It is necessary "to prepare Capable Teacher which can contribute their best for the sake of society".
