Gopabandhu Women’s College, Athgarh (Dist. Cuttack) was established in 1993 was also known as Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das College, Athgarh and founded by Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das.
Late Padmabhushan Dr. Radhanath Rath and other associates gave birth to their brain child in the name of Gopabandhu Women's College, Athgarh realizing the long cherished hope of Athgarh people where women literacy percentage was very low.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
It is affiliated with the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
The aim of the college was order to facilitate women study in this locality intellectuals, as well as others, provide helping hand to establish this college.
It is a woman non-government aided educational private Institute, providing a regular course which is located in the rural part of a Cuttack played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts streams with various specializations under Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
The institution has given priority to teaching and learning process. It has created a better teaching and learning environment in the campus through improved infrastructural and human resources.
