Gogamukh College, Dhemaji was established in 1981. It is one of the pioneer institution for higher education in Dhemaji District. It is ideally located between Gogamukh Higher Secondary School and Gogamukh Girls’ High School about 1.2 Km away from Gogamukh Chariali.

The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh & recognized by the University Grants Commission under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956. It it accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade in the month of August, 2015.

From the very beginning of its functioning the college has been dedicating in imparting teaching activities to its best among the students belonging to the most backward ethnic groups that comprising of Gogamukh, Mingmang, Nalbari, Bordoibam, Chaudhowa and Bordoloni. The college has been drawn up into the present existence with most determined struggle and selfless dedication of the people of greater Gogamukh.

The college was established in the year, 1981 by a few conscious people who felt the need of higher education for the future generations. The college has completed more than thirty years of it glorious journey and still to go ahead in imparting quality education to the students for self dependence and employability.

The college could not have achieved its goal without the support of the public of the locality. The college has played an important role in spreading education and social awareness among the new generations in particular andthe people in general. We are still striving for future development and improvement in imparting quality education in this remote area of North-Eastern part of Assam, India. The college is shouldering the responsibilities in enlightening the society with education in humanities and social sciences.

The college authority has already constituted IQAC for monitoring the academic development of the college and the college has a number of cells and committees for students support.

The college offers two years Higher Secondary Courses in Arts & Science stream under Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC), Guwahati and three years Degree Courses in Arts & Science stream under Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh and also offers some Career Oriented Courses / Add On Course.

The college also has a Contact Centre of Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), Gauhati University for PG courses. Besides this, the college is running a Study Centre of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOPU), Guwahati.

Vision:

  • To pave the way for higher education to the rural and backward schedule tribe and schedule caste people along with other ethnic groups of the greater Gogamukh region
  • To build up intellectual capacity among the people of this backward area in near future through spread of higher education

Mission:

  • To impart higher education to the students of this rural backward region, who can't afford to go outside for higher education
  • To develop the region socially and economically with the improvement of higher education
  • To provide employment opportunies and make the students employable
  • To spread women education and equal status in the society

  • The college has an attractive campus situated in secured and serene atmosphere suitable for learning with Young, dynamic faculty and non-teaching staff.
  • The college has well-equipped with all modern facilites like classrooms, library, laboratories, Internet, computer centre, sports & hostel etc.
  • The college has a library with a good number of books (both text and reference) on various subjects to meet the needs of the students as well as the teachers. Daily News papers and selected journals are also regularly subscribed.
  • The college authority has set up an empowered "Anti-Ragging Committee". As per the UGC Guideline [no. F.1-16/2007 (CPP-II), April 2009], all forms of ragging in hostels and the college campus are prohibited
  • Hostel facilities for both boys and girls are separately available on merit basis.
  • The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) to assure the quality of the college

State Government and the Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC. Following are the types of scholarship:-

  • State Merit Scholarship (on all Assam basis)
