Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration, Kolkata, is a constituent college under University of Calcutta, Kolkata, was established in 1903 but the college came into existence on 27th November 1905.

It is one of the most prestigious and oldest institutes of higher learning in Commerce and Management and has been ranked as one of the best colleges in the following streams.

The college is affiliated with University of Calcutta, Kolkata and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in July 1956 under Act, 1956.

it is also recognized and approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.65 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 5th November 2016.

The aim of the college was to create competent professionals for the fast developing business and growing service sector in post-colonial India.

It is a co-educational govt. Institute, providing a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Kolkata played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

Earlier, it was a part of Presidency College where it started as a department but later with growing demand it had to be shifted into its new premises as a separate institute under the University of Calcutta.

The Institution finally acquired its present position at 210, Bepin Behari Ganguly Street, Kolkata in 1951. The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the affiliating University.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate and two years of postgraduate courses in Commerce and Management stream with various specializations under the University of Calcutta, Kolkata. It also offer Diploma and Add-On Certificate courses.

The college has its own selection process unlike other colleges under the University of Calcutta, Kolkata. The college has an online application process where prospective applicants are expected to fill in their interests and academic achievements.

Admission has been done when seekers who have registered with the University are eligible for admissions in the college.

The admission procedure for its flagship B Com (Hons) is rigorous with the percentile cutoffs basis Class 12 Examination marks pegged at around 96%.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
