Goa College of Art, North Goa was established in 1972 by the Kala Academy and the college was brought under the administration of the Department of Education, Government of Goa in June 1983. Presently, it is under Directorate of Technical Education, Goa.

The Goa College of Art campus is located at the far end of Altinho, a hillock that dominates the city landscape. A visitor to the college would be greeted by a panoramic view of the river Mandovi and the Camp - Miramar stretch of land.

It is one of the premier institutions to impart & provide a platform in advancing knowledge and professional competence in the fields of Painting and Applied Art for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the path of progress.

The college campus spreads over an area of 1800 sq.mts and provides the perfect atmosphere to budding artists who hold promise to a career in the creative field of art and design.

The college is affiliated to Goa University, North Goa for a three years degree courses in Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting) and Bachelor of Fine Art (Applied Art). Providing a sound base in Visual Arts, the B.F.A. Degree Course begins with one year of foundation in each discipline followed by three years of specialization in the chosen stream. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The objective of its educational program is to imbibe in talented Goan youth the conceptual and technical excellence so vital to self-expression and competence in the field and to help prepare students for rewarding careers as artists and designers or educationists in the subject of Art.

The college has a history of over four decades in imparting fine art education to aspiring young minds in this beautiful state of Goa. So far, the college has trained more than 1000 professional artists since its inception in the year 1972.

Today they are seen contributing significantly and providing creative design solutions to the industry, in education, filmmaking, advertising, event management etc. both, in their home state, and globally. They have not merely contributed, but have excelled in their respective roles, have held key positions and have won laurels too.
