GKM College of Engineering & Technology, Chennai an ISO 9001:2008 certified, NBA and NAAC 'A' Grade Accredited institution is a premier technical educational institution established in the year 1996 by Dr.G.Kathamuthu, Founder Chairman, GKM Group of Educational Institutions with Dr.Sujatha Balasubramanian as Chief Executive Officer, Dr.C.Chellappan as the Principal who is a unique professor of International repute, having more than 34 years of service with strong technical, academic, managerial, industrial, and research experience as well as expertise in implementation and management of IT systems for educational and organizational requirements. He has served as IT consultant in the USA for more than 2 years in CDMA Technology. He was recognized by the International 'WHO's WHO' Historical Society of professionals USA, for having demonstrated exemplary achievements and distinguished contributions to the business community, 2010. He has visited various countries such as Australia, Bulgaria, U.S.A, Canada, Singapore, Korea and China, Thailand as a part of conferences/research work. The College is effectively run by Suganthi Educational Trust.

The college is located at 5 km off Tambaram, Chennai – Chengalpet National Highway (NH45). The campus is spread over nearly 10 acres of land in serene ambiance and is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The College offers 10 UG, 14 PG and 3 Ph.D programmes.

The college holds memberships with ISTE, CII, MMA, IEEE.

The college has an effective QMS covering teaching learning and all other supporting activities and is ISO 9001: 2008 certified, by IRQS. The College is accredited by International Accreditation Organization. The college has MoU with Middle East University FZE, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering are accredited by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi. Department of Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering are permanently affiliated by Anna University, Chennai. Department of Marine Engineering is rated by CRISIL. The 26 weeks afloat training for the Marine Engineering students are offered in the campus itself through the state of art facility available in the “ GKM KAMAASHI ” – ship – in – campus, which has the approval of Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai.

The college has excellent infrastructure facilities to meet the requirements of the students and faculty. Centralized Information Centre includes a well supported Computer Center, Internet Center, Communication Skills Lab, Central Library, Audio-visual facilities, Conference Hall for Group Discussion and Digital Library.

The college has partnered by signing MoUs with Gill Instruments, Cognizant, Wipro, Purple Leap, ICTACT, Siemens. The college has a prometric centre and conducts the certification examinations of Microsoft, Oracle etc.,

The College provides separate Hostel Facility for Boys and Girls with 24 x 7 Security System. The college has a NSS and YRC unit under Anna University and NCC (Boys Wing & Girls Wing) unit registered with Tambaram regiment.

The college provides transport facility covering all the areas of entire Chennai City and its suburb.
