Gimageria Welfare Primary Teacher's Training Institute (GWPTTI), Contai was established in 1990, with the motive of providing well trained primary teachers.

Training is required to impart education to the primary level students (I-V). For the reason, Pry Teachers Training Course has been taught in Gimageria .W.F. Pry.Teachers Training Institute. It is a Self Financing Institute. The Institute run in the academic year (2003--2004) (2004 - 2005) and (2005--2006) under the control of West Bengal Board of Pry. Education(W.B).

Subsequently Eastern Regional Committee .N.C.T.E. has granted recognition to Gimageria .W.F. Pry.Teachers Training Institute to the year 2008 for running D.Ed Couse.

The West Bengal Board of Pry. Education, Kolkata, being the Examining body, has greanted affiliation to the said Institute under its Memo, 110/BPE/P/2009 dt 21/05/09 from the academic year (2009-2010) ie 1st July 2009.

The Institute is affiliated to West Bengal Board of Primary Education and also approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

Academic activities including sessional / co- curricular activities are monitored by the teacher's council. The aim of the college is to impart proper training to the educated youth in the field of education and also to enable the prospective teacher to understand the nature, purpose. The college is equipped with modern facilities in its campus.
