Government Hamidia Arts & Commerce College, Bhopal was established in 1946 starting its journey from the Min to Hall building and managed by Jab Bhagidari Samiti (JBS).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Barkatullah University, Bhopal and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (in 2nd Cycle) on 10th December 2014.

The aim of the college was to make our education relevant in the present day context and also to inculcate values of equality, unity, and justice in the students so that they become conscious of their duty to the society and the country.

In the year 1956, the college shifted to a new building opposite Polytechnic College and continued to function there till 2005. With the establishment of Motilal Vigyan Mahavidhyalaya in 1960, the faculty of Science was shifted from Hamidia College.

Similarly, with the establishment of State Law College in the year 1996, the faculty of Law also shifted from here. It was in the year 2005 that the college moved to the present building stationed by the side of the serene lake at Budhwara awarding it a distinct physical identity.

It is a boys government Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the urban part of Bhopal played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Barkatullah University, Bhopal.

The college was given the status of lead college by the Department of Higher Education in the year 1998. It has 11 Government Colleges and 07 Government Aided Colleges under its jurisdiction.

It collects, compiles and sends information to higher authorities regarding admissions, scholarships, number of employees in different colleges.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Commerce and Law streams and offers two years of post-graduate in Arts and Commerce streams with various specializations under Barkatullah University, Bhopal.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Barkatullah University, Bhopal and various other examinations are held in the college premises.

Admissions here also done through Govt. of M.P. online portal by the Department of Higher Education M.P. and hence gives a transparent and fair method of admission.
