Government First Grade College, Kadur (Chikkamagaluru Dist.) was also known as GFGC, Kadur was established in 1992 by the Government of Karnataka.

It is one of the premier government co-educational colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Kuvempu University, Shivamogga and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956.
 
It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.43 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle).

This co-educational reputed Government College is coming under the Kuvempu University, Shivamogga and it’s very distinctive among other colleges in the university and the state.

The main aim of the college is determined to provide the quality education to the students. With the correct mix of technology and human touch, the college empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses like B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., BBM., B.C.A., M.A., M.Sc., and M.Com. During the two decades, the college has achieved much progress physically and academically.

The number of students has increased noticeably. The students from rural areas, who were earlier denied the opportunity of higher education, are particularly benefited from this college.
